It all began with a vintage car – which Georg bought more out of curiosity than passion.
But that very classic awakened a fascination that grew into true passion. At our vintage car hotel South Tyrol, books were devoured, trade fairs and events attended, and it soon became clear: the world of classic cars has much more to offer than you might think.
Piece by piece, the collection grew – each vehicle, each unique piece telling its own story. Among the treasures: the VW Bulli, the Messerschmitt, the Mercedes SL, the unforgettable VW Beetle, and an elegant Alfa Spider. Soon even the largest garage wasn’t enough – a proper home for these automotive gems had to be created.
In 2016 the dream came true: the Watles collection was opened as a vintage car museum at our hotel in Val Venosta. With a focus on classic cars but also collector’s items such as restored Vespas, Berkel slicing machines, jukeboxes, and cameras, the museum makes collectors’ hearts beat faster.
And because indulgence and shiny chrome go so well together, insights into the collection are also available as part of our dessert buffet – a sweet experience in the truest sense.

Panoramahotel Watles offers an ideal location in Val Venosta, close to well-known passes such as the Stelvio and the Ofenpass, both perfect for classic car tours. The hotel also features its own in-house vintage car collection, presenting historic vehicles from different eras.
The vintage car museum at Panoramahotel Watles is primarily reserved for hotel guests. For non-residents, visits are only possible upon request.
The vintage car museum regularly hosts a dessert buffet to conclude the 5-course dinner menu. Immerse yourself in the historic setting and enjoy sweet temptations while relaxing at the museum bar. The weekday of the dessert buffet varies by season and is set at the beginning of each season.
The hotel is situated at over 1,700 metres and already on arrival we were overwhelmed by the view over the Val Venosta valley. We had a room with a balcony and valley view and felt completely at ease. The room was large and cleaned perfectly every day. The special highlight is the in-house museum with historic cars, motorcycles, scooters, jukeboxes, and more. The guided tour is a must. Thank you – the house has a very special flair with perfectly presented exhibits.
