Your hiking holiday in South Tyrol
Leisurely hikes
Plantapatsch Hütte & Höfer Alm

… on the adventure mountain Watles, two wonderful family hiking trails await. The “Plantapatsch Hütte” is located at the top station of the chairlift, right next to the playground with water area, climbing features, wooden bridge, and more. The “Höfer Alm” with its large sun terrace is also an inviting stop for both small and big appetites – with a magnificent panorama.
(The Höfer Alm will be closed from March to December 2025 for renovation work.)

High route to the Sesvenna hut

… majestic peaks within reach: the “Piz Sesvenna” (3,205 m), the striking “Föllakopf” (2,878 m), and the impressive “Ortler massif” frame the path to the Sesvenna hut. In a dreamlike location near the giant mountains, the hut invites hikers to stop and rest. Whether with family or as a starting point for alpine tours – the Sesvenna hut is always worth the journey. The starting point is the “Plantapatsch Hütte” via the Sesvenna high route, trail no. 8.

The Schlinig Alm

… fun, adventure, and a gentle hike: the way to the “Schlinig Alm” (1,868 m) is made for families. Several play stations add variety along the way, while the broad forest path takes only 1.5 hours. Once at the top? Homemade cheese, hearty alpine dishes, and a panorama that leaves no wish unfulfilled.

Val Venosta Three-Lake Loop

pure nature at its best: the idyllic mountain lake near the “Watles chairlift” awaits. A well-marked forest path leads further through the “Biotope Flatschwaldmoos” and past historical flat stone walls. Then it appears: the “Pfaffensee” – first the big one, then the small one – a real gem. Benches invite you to rest. The highlight: the “Haidersee”, which can also be reached via a longer forest path.

To Lake “Pfaffensee”

… you’ll be at the valley station of the Watles chairlift – practically at your doorstep. Around 400 metres of altitude need to be conquered: the trail leads towards the “Höfer Alm” and “Plantapatsch hut”, before continuing to the “Pfaffensee”. Below the Watles summit, the turquoise waters of the big and small Pfaffensee sparkle in the sunlight.
Tip: in autumn, the larch forest shines golden – especially beautiful in the afternoon light, when the sun dips behind the Schlinig ridge.

Ready for pure nature and fresh mountain air?
Challenging hikes
Uina Gorge

The narrow trail carved into the rock winds spectacularly through the steep cliffs leading to the Sesvenna hut in Engadin, Switzerland. Once used as a smugglers’ path, today it is an unforgettable hiking experience. Those heading to the Sesvenna hut will reach the Schlinig Pass in about 30 minutes and the Uina Gorge after another half an hour. The return follows the same route.

Sunrise and sunset tour to the Watles cross

For those who want to enjoy the panorama from every possible angle, we recommend the easier and less demanding hike to the Watles cross. The highlight: watching sunrise and sunset in the mountains! Starting from the “Plantapatsch Hütte”, the trail leads steeply upwards to the Watles cross at 2,555 m. Time to pause, take it all in – and dream with eyes wide open. The return follows the panoramic path 4 to Lake “Pfaffensee” and back to the starting point. And afterwards? To our Panorama Lounge, where an aperitif awaits while you share the stories of your adventure.

Friendly staff, very good food, and the rooms are lovely. And the fantastic view of the Ortler group! Don’t forget: the wellness area.
